Artisan Hospitality is a division of Southern Proper Hospitality, which owns and operates fine dining restaurants in Atlanta such as Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails, Gypsy Kitchen and The Southern Gentleman to name a few. Committed to providing genuine hospitality, this privately held collection of Atlanta restaurants values innovation, creativity and attention to detail. With Artisan Hospitality, they bring that same focus to Atlanta’s movie sets, on-location catering and wrap parties.
Jon Disser has more than 20 years of experience in the Atlanta restaurant industry. As executive chef of Artisan Hospitality, Disser leads the charge when it comes to sourcing the freshest local foods available and fulfilling hard-to-find requests to suit unusual cast or crew cravings. Established in 2017 by Southern Proper Hospitality, Artisan Hospitality is setting the craft services and catering standard for Georgia’s film industry.
“My passion for food started at a very young age while living in Europe and learning about different and exotic ingredients,” Disser says. The Atlanta chef began his culinary journey in small, family-owned restaurants operating the front of house for five years. After attending culinary school in Atlanta, Disser started working in high-end restaurants including River Room Restaurant & Tavern in Vinings, where he was quickly promoted from line cook to sous chef.
Since then, Disser has worked for some of the most popular restaurants in and around Atlanta as a general manager and executive chef. He soon felt the call to branch out on his own and opened a small catering company specializing in corporate and pharmaceutical sales lunches.
After two years in the catering business, Disser accepted a position doing research and development for an up-and-coming restaurant group, Fork U Concepts. “This was the perfect job for me because I was able to create new and inventive dishes from all types of cuisine and cultures,” Disser says. Two years later, he made another upward move and now serves as the executive chef for Artisan Hospitality.
“I truly love what I do and want to learn more every day,” Disser says. “I have found my dream job here with Artisan Hospitality and cannot wait to grow with such a great company.”
